The silence after someone leaves the room,
When laughter still hangs somewhere on the walls.
I giggle at your jokes as I clean the room,
Replaying the evening as though it hasn't ended yet.
The silence after a long call when the screen goes dark
And suddenly there is no one who will react
To the little things I would have said,
The thoughts that only made sense when I shared them with you.
The silence after our laughter is even heavier,
Yet it makes me feel lighter.
The room may lose its noise
But it keeps the warmth of our joy.
The silence after someone leaves for good
is different from all the others.
There is no waiting for footsteps,
no screen that might light up,
no door that might open.
