Last Chance

Michael A. McGuire

I went into a trance and saw
nothing. I meditated inward and
felt emptiness.

Then I realized; without understanding
what once was, and is now, how can
revelations carress my conscious
mind with knowledge of the
unfathomable?

How can I appreciate translucent
thought without also sanctifying
flesh and emotional conveyances which
long for my embrace?

But alas, I have fled from these
truths for so long, I don't even
hear their words; only lips moving
in silent pleas, weeping for the
future with searing laughter.

I must awake or I won't appreciate
The Gift!

We are so afraid to try that we
constantly hide within the sheltering
teardrops we cry.

If we don't wipe away our blurred
vision and embrace Life before
it's too late, we will never know
the answer to that personal
question "WHY?"
