Shared Endowment

Kurt Philip Behm

Black or White

a common soul

Beneath the surface

of hate resold

Uncolored ground

that buries deep

A shared endowment

— to haunt our sleep

I enjoy your writing. Your poem speaks to a universal audience but focuses on the shared experiences of people of different races, hinting at the shared struggles against racism.

A beautiful write Kurt where prejudice of any difference is a judgement against the offender not the one offended. Sad that nature seems that way. Even chickens have a pecking order against all weaknesses or differences.

What a strong piece, my friend. The hatred may be taught and recycled, but what we share runs deeper than any of it…and that truth makes the division feel even more tragic. Excellent write, Kurt. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
