It felt like summer
The birds were singing
Bees were buzzing
The roses were in full bloom
He lay dead
The aroma of freshly baked cakes filled the room
The steak knife had broken while going through his chest
He would have a guarantee for that knife, she thought
Him being so efficient
She decided he should be in bed
But the blanket looked silly sitting on top of the knife
A nice hole in the blanket sorted that
Then she realised she could have just put him on his side
I could have put you on your side, darling
He didn’t answer
That was another one of her pet hates, being ignored
I suppose I’ll be making dinner then
You’ll be wanting your steak well done
A bit like yourself
Well done
It felt like summer
The birds were singing
Bees were buzzing
The roses were in full bloom
He lay six feet under them..

This could be read as a metaphor for relationships that rot and spoil from the inside while the outside may still look idyllic. Perhaps even stretching to “full bloom” being a satirical inversion of this internal ruination. 🙏🏻🕊️
Got a feeling it was boiling for awhile before she blew up.
This is why I make my own steaks.
Steaks are skittish things, especially in the 'wrong' hands!
It is the absurdity of the situation and conversation that makes this great. Insanity when something snaps and everything is out of proportion and meaning. The big picture ignored for the sake of details. Then again it must be a metaphor as Criptic proposes, but then is not all of life but a metaphor, a satire, ironic a play of fools? A fun read that with afterthought has much deeper and darker meaning. I have seen a few cases similar and they seldom end well the answer a pill. A fave my friend
When they explode they explode, then temporary insanity takes over.
Surprised nobody's asked after him.
Maybe he wasn't liked enough to be thought of.
There’s a damn deliciously macabre comedy here, with the bright summer setting making her utterly matter-of-fact murder even more absurd. “You’ll be wanting your steak well done / A bit like yourself” is the standout—cold, ridiculous, and perfectly suited to the dark punchline underneath it all.
She was a tidy woman, and he did get tidied away in a strange way.
Yes I like this . The dark Humour is Wonderful.
Could see Hitchcock filming this.
A fave.
I'm not playing him, he didn't last long. lol
Paul, this is wonderfully twisted. The cheerful domestic calm sitting beside something absolutely horrific makes the whole thing even darker…and somehow funnier. Brilliantly macabre, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Poor guy only wanted to watch the football.
