A Lasting Love

mylastwrites

He lifts her with gentleness

He holds her with care

Ever since the day they met

He has always been there

Lately she's been quite sickly

He's been with her the whole way

The love he feels inside for her

Grows stronger every day

At night he lies in bed

Tears streaming down his face

He knows that when she's gone

Life will become a lonely place

He tries not to think about that

But that's all that's on his mind

His hearts in so much pain

Because he knows she's almost out of time

  • Comment from author about the poem: The hardest thing to do, is watch the one you love dying. There are many hands dealt in life. I hope this hand is never dealt to you.
