Lure and Desert

Sassy Lou

Embroiled in these circumstances

Through my own lack of foresight

Clinging to false hope

Built on a pipe dream

Loving you felt intensely authentic yet surreal

Believing you felt the same

You reeled me in

Emotional blackmail

A keen little fish, diving straight in

Gobsmacked....

You snatched me up

Swiftly into your brilliant snare

Wrapped me in cotton wool

And trapped me behind an invisible barrier

Blinded by wishful thinking

Vividly and stunningly adorned

Sucker, fool -

That's me ... that's me

After you cook and debone this small fish

You draped me in hope

You left me to drown

You left me fighting for every breath

Beached,

As you walked away with unshakeable resolve

With no goodbye

Like a phantom, you came unannounced

and faded into nothingness

A bitter gale trailing behind you

Washed up on the sand,

Still stained with absolute faith

While you seek another

harmless creature of the deep

Sucker, fool....

That's me that's me

A most poetic admission of being taken. Well written

Cassie, I connect with the ache in this. Sometimes the hardest part is not just losing the person, but questioning your own judgment afterward and wondering how you missed what was happening. This lands hard, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
