Train friends

isa kemmy

Sitting on trains
Felt like held in chains
Earphone music up
Avoiding the scene,
Of knowing the strands

2 ladies walk in
And a minute
I chipped in
The safety is assured
Trust is bounded

She speaks highly
Her English no accent
Indian from Sweden
The other her brown hair
From Netherlands
Never minds me as a third party

Conversation shifts
From exes
To disco
To ultimate karaoke breakup
To silly men at the club

The glitters in our face,
The bond out of sight
The paths are same
2 besties
The topic turns
Just girly insights
With strangers
In the train to Würzburg

Talked of vacations
When one's mind is a vacuum
Smiles and glitters
Only to know my English
Got swallowed by Deutsch
Yet it's my language
One man's meat
Another one's poison

A good story of listening to another's conversation. I am always looking forward to fun as I listen to others speak in another language I understand and after a good while respond in their language often to their surprise and sometimes embarrassment and dismay.

Speaking in a second or third language is sometimes difficult. I have a hard time spelling and with gramar in Portuguese and Spanish

Evereything happens on the train, travellers of the world unite in gossip and for awhile bonds are made.
In saying that, I usually bond with the ticket collector who dosn't understand, Tuesday is free travel day in my language.

Isa, this is such a warm little slice of life. A random train ride turns into this unexpected pocket of connection...the kind of moment that makes travel feel human again. Lovely piece, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

You can learn quite a bit on a train, if you’re attentive. This one’s quite good.
