And suddenly I'm not thirteen, and I haven't been thirteen for a long time,
And suddenly the seasons are changing, the air gets thinner too
Suddenly everything feels far off from everything i knew
Suddenly you’ve changed, though for the better, I'm sure,
But it’s not you. Nothing’s the same anymore.
Suddenly the colors start to look more gray,
Suddenly the flowers start to shrivel and die
Suddenly the sun died down and the moon too slow to rise
Suddenly, so bittersweet, seeing my life change before my eyes
Suddenly nothing's the same anymore
It all happened so suddenly that I could pretend
Nothing's changed at all
And if I close my eyes, I'm still a kid,
Chasing you down the halls
If I close my eyes,
I see the colors just as bright
And the light of a midsummer day
I see it all, though it's all changed
For i’m still the same

- Comment from author about the poem: But if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like you've been here before? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? (-pompeii lyrics)
