Let’s Have Brunch

Anthony Hanible

Morning lifts with sharpened light

Plates arrive in perfect sight

Coffee curls in velvet night

Brunch begins its quiet rite

Eggs ignite their golden glow

Berries line in tidy row

Toast leans in like drifting snow

Time slows down its steady flow

Laughs collide in honeyed air

Syrup drips with subtle flare

Hours hum without a care

Noon leans close to watch us share

Forks tap out a gentle beat

Fruit erupts in sudden heat

Brunch becomes a small retreat

Held inside our stolen seat

Stay with me through noon’s design

Taste the world in every sign

Break the day like brittle pine

Brunch as spell

Your hand in mine
