Deception

Michael A. McGuire

I've gotten so good at lying,
even I don't know what to believe
anymore.

What's real? What's an illusion?
Am I dreaming or awake? It's just
so confusing.

I lied at first to stay out of
trouble; yet when they figured out
my game, the penalty was doubled.

It's just not worth it, I've
finally learned. Lies are like
fire out of control and you will
get burned!

Trust is the most valuable asset
you can own these days.

When it's coldly taken advantage
of, you may be abandoned and left
on your own.

For in the end, it's always the
one who can't look you in the eye
that pays!
