I used to love Lavender,
but then Violet called me by name.
But Purple sounds so simple,
and it's not a feeling that will drain.
I loved bright Yellow, like a sunflower in sunlight,
but it became pastel, and I fell.
Green was dark like a forest at night,
but I met Sage, and it all changed.
Orange was soft till the sun set,
and it became bright and hectic.
And Red was romantic
till it became blood-dark and crimson,
and my heart was broken.
Pink still held the magic of truth,
but even then, she dulled and faded.
And Blue was the ocean filled with thoughts till morning,
but then sad dew on the car window fogged my view,
and it seemed black.
I had a rainbow,
a time long ago.
Now I have colors that hold more than a name,
that resemble a shade.
It's a person, forgotten almost,
a person I will look for in the clouds.

A beautiful poem about how love and loss can change the meaning of ordinary colors.
Thank you!
You are welcome.
So many colors loved and changed in this poem they become a mood and a time period. Nicely written
Thank you!
You are most welcome A.N.
The vibrant colors of a person in one’s memories can and do fade with the passage of time. Sad but inevitable. Great poem!
Thank you!
