Sorry It Was a Long Day

Anthony Hanible

My

Pulse was dragging

Dust and decay

Carrying echoes

That wouldn’t

Obey

Time

Threw stones

At my ribcage

All day

Each one carving

A crooked

Cliché

The sun

Fell early

In rust colored gray

A wounded monarch

Losing

Its sway

I walked

With worries

That wouldn’t

Betray

Faithful shadows

That followed

My fray

My voice

Felt locked

In a trembling

Display

A cracked glass hymn

With nothing

To say

If I seemed

Far

Fading

Or drifting

Away

I’m sorry

Truly

It was

A long

Day

I have had many of those and hope they are in the past. Nicely written Anthony
