Minds' Fading Flickering Flame

Jaryyn

These dark empty roads
aren't heading anywhere.

No matter how hard we try
and how far we go,
we're never even certain what
we keep searching for.

While standing here,
these places where we dreamed
of something better
just keep haunting us in our minds.

Ripping our souls apart
and finally tossing
us to the ground,
leaving us lying totally alone
while trying to reach
something unattainable.

We just keep ending
where we started,
not knowing that
until we reach the end.

Oh, I wish so hard
we could finally get off these
dark empty roads.

This air we keep breathing here
is like a silent disease
slowly poisoning our minds.

Now we just feel
how silent, ice-cold rain
falls all upon us,
dressing us unrecognizable.

Burning our skin
while we try to wipe it off.

Spoken words won't
reach us anymore,
voices just echo back
like breaking static.

In the darkness,
we are blinded
by tenebrous light
which pierces through our bodies,
making us feel
hollow and empty.

I wish we could float
and glide upon the water
as it gently embraces us,
before pulling us into the abyss.

Here, this entity feels rusty
and twisted,
as everything is so blurred.

This is the day when
evil tries to reach us,
pulling us apart,
keeping us separated.

I don't know
and
I don't understand
this place
where we don't
recognize ourselves anymore.

While we are standing here,
our minds make us wonder
how we even got here.

We just need to wake up
from these
oppressive nightmares
that keep us awake.

Oh, how much
we wish we could escape
from those depressive dreams.

We have been waiting
for this for so long.

Silent words never stay quiet,
those words left undone.

They just whisper loudly
between the lines,
hurting our souls.

Sketching dark phrases
on our mind's white pages.

Finally, we don't find
any more sentences
within our thoughts' open,
empty drawers.

Our minds' flickering flames
are slowly fading away.

The glow in our thoughts
is slowly melting
like molded wax,
turning into
breaking static.
