ALAS

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

She said I speak
Too much of dawn
And midnight shadows
As they fall
Upon the corridors
Of a leaning mind
The old clock
Its hourly chime.

Explanation
To deaf ears fall
Never understood
The poetical call
The sunshine that creeps
Through curtained gap
The lonely footsteps
On an unknown path.

The lightning upon
A darkened sky
The Summer heat
The clouds roll by
The turning wave
Its gentle kiss
These are things
Alas, you miss.

Memories written in objects evoke feelings and here with the rhyme and good meter it sets a tone. Well done Norman

What a beautifully melancholy piece, Norman. The imagery is rich with everything the speaker notices, but the real sorrow lies in having no way to make another person see it too. This struck close to home, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
