Too bad

boot

A scuff of dust..
They shuffle
Waiting...
for a chance of light
The sun.. at winter's solstice
Births a minute...
For the true
The fruition of devotion
Growing for a year
Now..it's time!!
Don't want to miss!!
What the hell????
It's a solar eclipse!!!!
A maiden spared
The blade...unwet
Her beating heart remains

Oh well....there's always next year

Dark writing that eclipses the sacrifice put into it. Well done

James, what a delightfully macabre little tale. The tension builds like a sacred rite, the sky delivers the punchline, and that casual acceptance afterward makes the whole thing wickedly funny. Brilliant work, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
