Shadows Of The Unknown

Michael A. McGuire

Shadows are an extension of the
unanswerable questions in your mind.
Any form can be created, for they
obscure your perception and confuse
your senses.

You don't know where one begins or ends,
it just is and you can only ask why.

Nothing is real but the helplessness you
feel when you're lost in the shadows of
the unknown. Your soul screams out from
useless wondering about, when all you
want to do is make it home.

For that's what peace is: having security
in a job, friends, and place to sleep; not
wondering about lonely and disoriented on
some dark and cold corner of the street!

That's what draws us to the light; all
is known, nothing can hide, except the
thoughts welling up deep inside your mind.

That's what scares us; what others dare
not share with us.

If we fail to discover the answers and
secrets of the unknown, our minds become
blown!

Yet not for those who have managed to turn
night into day; for them, all the shadows
have flown away!
