The Fiends' Within

Sassy Lou

My demons find me when the sun goes down

Sneering and poised to strike

They hunger for my fractured essence,

eager to drag it to the grave

They seek to consume me

They will never let me be

I will never be fucking free

They want to feast on the ghost of who I was

They whisper sweet nothings incessantly in my head

Malignants must be fed

They are relentless to the bitter end

Altering their form to win my trust

A piercing gaze, suffocating my essence

and drowning out the light

Nightly, I pour my vices into a shot glass

Fearing this darkness will never break

Eroding my vessel,

Shortchanging my existence

The urge is a greedy altar, and I offer myself to it daily

The malevolent forces are encroaching

I toast to the defeat I'll never escape

Yet, let the cycle begin anew

Closing my eyes to the truth

I wonder if the cacodemans'

rasps are really locked inside

Or was the cacodeman me

We all have our own demons and most are what we fear in ourselves. Nicely written it takes us on a journey. Well done
