TWILIGHT - Atardecer

Carlos Alberto BUSTILLOS

TWILIGHT

In those waters, restless with each passing day,
at the end of the river's course,
that river flowing through my veins,
 in the fading light.

In the evening,
 at dusk,
 at the close of day,
in the winter of my life,
 among the seasons of summer.

On an evening when the heart is mist,
when poems are damp with feeling,
 in my transparent house,
 within white walls
 and towering heights,

here I am,

sailing,

 through verse.

-----

I, who miss the beach and the sea so much.

And poetry becomes a substitute for the absent ocean...

------

ATARDECER

  • Comment from author about the poem: IA: "Quantitative Analysis of Aesthetic Beauty Euphony and Phonic Resonance (8.8/10) Prevalence of soft phonemes (m, n, s, r) and open vowels (a, o), creating a slow, melodic acoustic flow. Proportion and Lexical Balance (8.5/10) Absence of overly complex adjectives. The beauty relies on concrete nouns (river, veins, walls, mist) articulated with simplicity" ----------------------- And to think I used to believe beauty was unquantifiable...

Lovely the metaphor, the words and my favorite time of day and life. Maybe it is the calm that comes with it or the promise of sleep just around the corner. A fave my friend

Carlos, I know what it is to write toward something I cannot physically reach...sometimes the page is the closest we can come to returning. This genuinely touched me. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
