Tristan Robert Lange

all gods
under a nation—

empire—

shadowfall

consumation.

who do we worship?

God, nation, family, self what order do we put them or do we even believe in them. Well written my friend

    • Tristan Robert Lange

Well said, my friend...the worship starts when one of those things becomes more important than every other human being. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿ™

        And so it is

      • Teddy.15

We should worship ourselves and our families, everything else is smoke! Oh Tristan I feel your pain in these months, especially politically, as you know I'm not religious I believe, all preach to the same figure in the end but it won't help us we have to help ourselves. ๐Ÿ’œ

        • Tristan Robert Lange

I understand you, Teddy...ourselves and our families should come first, but even that can fall under the dominance of a nation...as seen in countless families losing loved ones to war, politics, and many other such things. Scary how quckly we abandon those right before us for intangible things promised by elusive governments. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿ™

Good write T. And now your next Macabre poem - about mysterious glugs, sounds of knitting needles, and clashes of sabres in duelling - Popeye & Co's antics! lol.

          • Tristan Robert Lange

LOL...the domination of the nation may have to wait while I attend to the mysterious glugs and the duelling sabres, Orchi. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿ™

            fine write, enjoyed

          • Frรคnz Mรผller

Most people just worship themselves, putting the I in idolatryโ€ฆ

            • Tristan Robert Lange

              Thatโ€™s a hell of a pun, Frรคnz...and unfortunately, it tracks. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿ™

              Good write, Tristan.

              • Tristan Robert Lange

Appreciate that, Jerry...thank you for reading. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿ™

                We worship the illusion .

                • Tristan Robert Lange

Well said, Lorenz...we can become so devoted to the image that we forget to question whatโ€™s underneath. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿ™

Who indeed! And the why cold also be very revealing.

                  • Tristan Robert Lange

Absolutely, Arqios...once we start asking why, the comfortable answers tend to disappear. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿ™

                  • Doggerel Dave

I find it quite easy to not worship any of the choices you provide Tristan. Extend your list if you wish, but I doubt you will find a different answer from me.
                    A challenge?

                    • Tristan Robert Lange

I understand your answer, Dave...but youโ€™re still stepping into the forest. The religious language is only the foil. We all tend to serve something, even if we call it principle, freedom, truth, success, or self-preservation. And worship, broadly speaking, is placing something above all else as most worthy of loyalty and praise. I have yet to find a person who places nothing above anything else. The point is that even those things can and almost always do fall under the dominance of the state. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿ™

                      • Doggerel Dave

So you challenged โ€“ and demolished my half arsed comment. However there are limits to my humility.
Of the examples you cite, freedom and truth I value above all; success, and self-preservation are too vague to gain much consideration from me.
