I feel like myself today
With first light of September end
An unclenching of my being
From all the ways it was bent
On a crisp, bright morning
When the sun doesn’t burn
And you said you love me
And the way your eyes turn
Scattered me with its wings
A rescued goldcrest
And I believe, I am turned
Into what might be, my best
A version that waited for
This, amber spell
Some kind hearts around me
Have brought me back from hell.
