Eyes roll back, watching time drift by,
Caught in a haze under a darkened sky.
Looking for a way just to break the spell,
Trapped in a cycle that I know too well.
Sipping on a ghost, trying not to feel,
Hoping that the shadows aren't really real.
Count another hour as it slips away,
Lost in the echo of another day.
Walking through the dark with a heavy heart,
Watching every piece slowly fall apart.
Reaching for a light that I cannot see,
Chasing off the voices that are calling me.
Pouring out a cup just to hide the pain,
Standing alone in the freezing rain.
Gave up the moment, let the vision fade,
Staring at the mess that the night has made,
And all of my time gets wasted.

- Comment from author about the poem: Inspired by Juice WRLD's "Wasted," this piece reflects on the heavy realities of addiction and mental health. It mirrors both my own personal struggles and the painful experiences I’ve witnessed in family members—capturing the feeling of being trapped in a cycle, fighting to find light through the dark, and honoring the deep emotional toll it takes on all of us.
