Tune: Richmond
('City of God, how broad and far')
Psalm 95 v.1-7
*********
O come, let us sing to the Lord
And praise Him for His word
Let us make joyful noise unto
Our salvation's Rock true
Let us come before His presence
With thanksgiving now hence
And make joyful noise to Him, sing
And psalms unto Him bring
For the Lord is a great God, He
Great King above all be
Above all gods*, in His hands are
The earth's deeps near and far
The strength of the hills is His too
He made the sea, it true
To be His, and He the dry land
Did form by His own hands
O come, let us worship, bow down
To Him of high renown
Let us kneel before Him, for He
Our Maker, Creator be
For He is our God, we His sheep
His people, He does keep
In His pasture, under His care
In His blessings we share

* 'gods' in some cases in the Psalms can mean
human rulers, judges, magistrates, those in authority, etc.

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. There are more verses to this Psalm, but it changes the theme and does not really fit to such a lively or joyful tune as the one I have chosen here.

Another lovely hymn of God's superiority and and our need to worship. Nicely done Orchi
Thank you SB.
My pleasure Orchi
Nicely said
Thank you F.
Thatβs the lower case βgβ as it is with the lower case L. Nice one, lord O ππ»ποΈπ
Thank you A. You may kiss lord O's boots - though he's got too big for them now, and he don't mean shoe size. lol.
Okay, noticed you are using sheep in this poem. Just checked and it seems the RSPCA is coming for a visit.
In saying that. Feeling holy.
Thank you P. lol. Baaa - I'm a sheep. But not Baa humbug! lol.
Orchi...I can hear this being sung from the heavenly rafters while Olβ TomΓ‘sβ Knitworks knits ceremonial vestments in the vestry and Obi-Wan conducts the entire congregation with his lightsaber. This is worship, whimsy, and very serious Psalm business all tangled together beautifully. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
Thank you T. And Popeye glugging along in song too. lol.
"gods*' - ?? Goes to show psalm writer had limited vocabulaary and no internet to help them out.
You did the best you could, Sir Hymnful, no one can ask any more of you than that.
Thank you D. I suppose they were regarded as 'gods' in those days.
