thrash your spine

Tristan Robert Lange

slayer slays
metallica shreds
megadeth slaughters
anthrax shudders

snap your fingers,
thrash your spine

erupt a volcanic panic
pointing to the satanic
inverting the messianic
to expose the tyrannic
on a high speed titanic

to steal souls for mechanix

four horsemen—
adding a fifth ain’t overkill—
god’s wrath from east to west
in metallic shards
scouring out of screaming bards:

hell awaits us all
south of heaven.

A powerful write, my friend. Your poem explores the themes of chaos, rebellion, and existential dread through the lens of heavy metal music. The poet highlights the aggressive nature of thrash metal, using it as a metaphor for confrontation with societal and spiritual issues, particularly the dichotomy between good and evil.

Metal music invented to encapsulate rebellion against society, rules and God. It screams its message in words often not heard above the beat and amplified metal sound of strings of an electric guitar. An in your face art that has evolved into heavy, thrash and death metal. Nicely written my friend I expected hell to come from the North but I suppose that is where ignorance resides.

It’s a sure destination unless the ticket’s changed!
