Why can’t politicians see the simple truth
Be statesman and steward to those served
Public servants must lead their constituency
The welfare of the people must be preserved
Some people stay abreast of matters at hand
Of course all of them will never agree
Which is why leadership is required
To make the best decisions for you and me
When politics interfere with what seems right
A true leader knows to keep pride in check
At times people and leaders see differently
One secret to success is treat all with respect
The machinations of leading can be harsh
Disagreements arise and some get the worst
A statesman and leader must ensure
In nothing he decides should he come first
Politicians should have to study leadership
Not programs written by those without a care
But consisting of life or death scenarios
Decisions made by those who’ve been there
