Transitions

Fränz Müller

As summer slips away

and fall starts creeping in

I feel the smile fading

and sadness grow within.

The world is slowly dying

just to be reborn again

but I cannot help this feeling

as I’m sulking in my den.

I know the feeling will not last

and hope it disappears

like curling smoke does in the sky

vanishing with my fears.

But alas!  Alack! The stain remains

and so I lie in state

my mind awash with darkened thoughts

and bemoan my coming fate.

The change in seasons changes me

despite my wish to not;

so through the foggy window, watch

the flowers dry and rot.

The inevitable change in seasons runs through this poem. Nicely written
