OLD MAN AT THE GATEWAY

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

Where are my dreams
Wrapped tender in words
Placed in a drawer
Safely, with care
Where are my years ?
That slipped slowly away
Gone now forever
Unable to stay.

Where are my hopes ?
That hung brightly afar
Where is the promise ?
That shone like a star
Where are my loves
My dislikes and hates ?
That moulded my soul
Time now it takes.

Where are my memories ?
Tired and worn
Fading on remnants
Of a retiring dawn
Lifted above
The land and the sea
To the dream I have lived
What will be will be.

Beautifully said in rhyme and such good meter. The poem set in question speaks its message well. A fave

Good write N. So - you were going to write 'Young man at the bus stop' but had to change it now to 'old man?!' lol.

I find myself looking backward more often as I age, Norman...wondering where all that time went. I felt this. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
