Legos

Donteatmecows

Little plastic blocks of red and blue,

Endless possibilities waiting for you.

Snap them together, one by one,

A skyscraper built before day is done.

A castle with towers, a space-bound ship,

A tiny car for an imaginary trip.

With every click and every piece,

The world you create will never cease.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Building with LEGO bricks has been a constant thread throughout my life, starting from when I would build sets as a young boy in my bedroom. What began as carefree childhood play evolved alongside me, turning into a passion that followed me right into adulthood. Now, as an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL), those familiar plastic bricks serve as much more than just a creative outlet and to reconnect with childhood passion—they are a vital tool for healing and grounding my nervous system when hyperarousal and C-PTSD take over. The tactile, rhythmic process of assembling each piece provides a focused, sensory anchor that helps soothe a heightened state of stress. By reconnecting with a pure childhood passion, I can step away from adult-level exhaustion and tap into a lighter, more vibrant mindset. Reclaiming that creative play brings back a sense of youthful energy and resilience, helping to lift the weight of feeling constantly drained and creating a quiet space to feel whole again.

A write of bringing the familiar and friendly back into a life. A recognition of healing properties and their use to become functional. Lovely
