Time’s Estranged

Caveman

Is it I that no longer recognizes time or me that is estranged?

I’ve lived my last day
I’ve breathed my final breath
I’ve been eaten alive, consumed by what we call death

My life has flashed before my eyes, a feeling that words do an injustice trying to describe

A movie with a tragic end
Doomed to watch, again and again

Stuck on fast forward, rewind, repeat
A miserable cycle, left without the grace of retreat.

I was living in a box, blind to the all that surrounds me

Little did I know that night would come bearing a gift, the gift to see.

I believe my life is still flashing before me, currently, here as we speak.

Only this time, it flashes much more slowly
