Now everyone is running for the door,
To shield themselves from cold and heavy rain;
They live in fear, always expecting more,
While watching life drift past them in their pain.
I used to be like them, with head hung low,
Submissive to the rules they set in place
A cruel world where differences can’t grow,
Where fear erases every honest face.
The heavy shower shows no mercy now,
A few short seconds and you start to drown;
The flooded streets become a river now,
A rushing stream that overtakes the town.
A gentle smile is drawn across my face,
While looking out upon this sudden show;
Prepared to take my turn upon the stage,
Where wild and stormy currents start to flow.
A single stride into this falling stream
Was all it took to enter the abyss;
No fear remains inside this waking dream,
My soul is fully healed in times like this.
Without protection now, I march ahead,
My arms wide open to the weeping sky;
I feel the raindrops falling on my head,
And let the frantic world go rushing by.
The downpour washes every weight away,
Resetting body, mind, and spirit true;
My thoughts are clear again amid the grey,
As calm returns to make my soul anew.
The clouds begin to part and drift away,
A quiet light awakens from the night;
Reborn beneath the deluge of the day,
I walk in peace, my spirit shining bright.
