The Mirror

Ethan Mikel St.Amour

I looked into the mirror
Everything seemed normal
Until I walked away

My reflection stayed behind
Staring through the glass
Waiting for me

I covered the mirror
But underneath the cloth
Something started smiling

I am familiar with indelible ink but indelible reflections are a new thing to me and as a metaphor the smile is either reassuring or creepy I can not decide which. Well done my friend

Yes, sometimes when you look in, the reflection isn't you.
You walk away, but the person looking back doesn't leave.
