Tune: Laudate Dominum
('O praise ye the Lord')
Psalm 97
********
The Lord reigns, let all the earth now rejoice
Let all isles be glad, praise Him with one voice
Clouds and darkness are round about Him, rightoeus
He be, and justice in His judgements of us
A fire goes before Him, burns enemies
To ashes, His lightnings appear, each sees
Them, they the world enlighten, the earth shakes
Hills melt like wax before Him, all worship makes
Recognising the Lord, His presence
Lord of the whole earth, each creature does sense
The heavens declare His righteousness, and all
See His glory, and before Him humbly fall
Ashamed they be who serve graven image
Who boast of idols, and do sacrilege
Rather worship Him the true God, those who hear
Are glad and rejoice, praise Him with godly fear
For you, Lord, are high above all the earth
Exalted far above all, we your worth
Give you, loving you, Lord, we hate evil here
You preserve your people, and to them draw near
He saves His people from the wicked, light
Is sown for the righteous, good in His sight
And for the upright in heart, all may rejoice
Thankful, recall His holiness, He our choice
