Tune: Aurelia
('The church's one foundation')
Hosea Chapter 14
********
Israel, to the Lord return
You have sinned, of Him learn
Take with you words and turn to
Him, say, Forgive, renew
Take away all sin, receive
Us gracious, we believe
So our lips shall give you praise
And songs to you shall raise
We shall not other nation
Trust to bring salvation
Nor say to our idols, You
Sure now be our gods true
For in you the needy find
You are merciful, kind
He will heal their backsliding
Ways of their descending [into sin]
For the Lord's anger is turned
Away, though once it burned
Towards them, but now He be
As the dew pleasant, see
To His people, and He will
Love them freely, and still
Tend them, they shall like lilies
Grow, and as cedar trees
Strong rooted, and their branches
Shall spread, beauteous this
They shall dwell 'neath His shadow
Reviving as corn grow
And as the vine, and sweet smell
Give forth, shall prosper well
The Lord, as fir or cypress
To them, He shall them bless

"We shall not other nation

Don't trust even my own especially after the last election. Good one Orchi. I loved how this one focused on the growth of Cedar trees and grains and crops it felt earthy.
Thank you SB. Yes, Old Testament book of Hosea does seem very agricultural in places.
I had a daft slogan: 'Cabbages rule OK; vote for them in the next election!' Or carrots, or apples, or beans, or.......! lol.
