Give up.

Micah Finchley

Give up:

I’m not fond of routines,

I don’t care for waking up early.

I just want to sleep all day and have an easy life.

But I know I can’t just let the world go by.

I want the opportunities and the thrill of love, life and death, I just don’t want to work for it.

But you can’t get what you want by doing nothing.

I want to step into the sunlight and feel free, and I want to step into the limelight and believe.

So when I stare unto the eyes of my own reflection and he tells me to give up, I’ll just smile in his face and tell him to fuck off.

And as a glorious man once said,

“Throw your heart out infront of you, and run ahead to catch it.”

Or something like that.

  • Comment from author about the poem: A few days ago I almost dropped out of college and today I decided I’d probably regret it if I did, giving up one of my wildest dreams. Also, a certain line of this poem comes from a professional wrestler and you can probably guess which, Rest Easy PAC/Ben. We love you and we miss you.
