In the kingdom of flavor where tortillas reign,
Two noble shells rise on the feast-day plain:
One soft as a cloud, warm and yielding to touch,
One crunchy and golden, that shatters with much.
They quarrel in kitchens from dawn until night—
“I’m better with carnitas!” the soft one will fight.
“I’m perfect for fish!” cries the hard shell with pride,
While guacamole watches, amused by their side.
But when National Taco Day dawns clear and bright,
They set down their rivalry, if only for night.
Side by side on the plate, both crowned with the same:
Cilantro, onion, lime, and a salsa of flame.
So raise up your taco, whichever you choose—
Soft folded in silence, or crunch that refuses.
For the true celebration is simple and pure:
More tacos for everyone. That’s the only cure.
