the bullet we shared

diaryofskylah

We sat together for years,

sharing everything I thought we'd always keep.

You knew my secrets,

and you knew the person I used to love.

I thought our loyalty was a shield.

But it was just a blindfold

that kept me from seeing what you wanted.

You reached into my past

and took the one thing I thought was safe.

Now there is nothing left inside me.

My chest is just an open, hollow space.

It turns out loyalty is a dangerous thing

when it leaves you completely empty.

It’s crazy how the person you’d take a bullet for is the one pulling the trigger.
