Derealization: Tell Me I'm Ugly

Donteatmecows

It’s an insufferable experience

When I’m sent into derealization

My thoughts, words, and ideas

Think and feel like an inherent flaw

Source and creation

Disjointed mind

Disjointed mind

Everything makes sense

But it doesn’t soften or make bearable

The feeling of complete worthlessness

His judgemental reaction

And Sarah said that it was weird

Weird! Weird! Weird! Feared! Weird!

“She” “She” “She” “She” “She”

Hallucinating a girlfriend

Distorting reality in the eyes of my audience!

I operate inside a fictional delusion

A desperate man can’t handle reality!

 What an embarrassment!

Letting rotten puss spew out of me

To those who don’t deserve my thoughts

Shameful mental defects that refuse to relent

Nonsensical phrases and my nonsensical shows get praises!

Random brain noise that doesn’t match

What’s inside of me

There’s biology and theology

And a mind that doesn’t think

It all makes sense but what I can’t stand

Is the feeling in my sink

In order to be free of this

Healing is the key

Then I won’t feel broken anymore

And I can understand it all with peace

  • Comment from author about the poem: An unfiltered look into the state of fight-or-flight, derealization, and the heavy shame of mental disconnect. Written in a fast-moving, fragmented style, the poem externalizes internal chaos while reaching toward ultimate healing. It captures the sense of the experience feeling so intense it feels like truth.
