The Lady Vanishes

Kevin Hulme

A friend of mine being the lovely Claire,

Has gone out of my life and it's driving me Spare.

For She went for an interview as a Cabin Stewardess;

For an Airline She said in Helsinki no less.

Now it seems She's Vanished in the Proverbial Finnair.

You nicked the possibility of a really smart arsed answer by virtue of your title. All I can add is my vague suspicion that you may be varnishing the truth here, and that at this very moment you are arranging a cosy little flat for two in Finland.

    • Kevin Hulme

Caught Out I'm afraid. Don't like my truth with too much Varnish on it .
      Thank you for Reading.

See what you mean by Varnishes. 👍

I thought the bloopers came next

              • Kevin Hulme

The Blooper came when I originally wrote 'The Lady Varnishes' by mistake .
Then again she could be his Housekeeper also.
                Thanks for Reading.

Say hi to the reindeer and enjoy Lapland for us!

Will do . Old Red Nose says Hi also.

There’s a damn delightful old-school silliness here, with Claire, the cabin-stewardess interview, Helsinki, and “Finnair” all marching toward that gloriously obvious pun like they’re determined to make you groan. The final line is the keeper for me because “vanished in the proverbial Finnair” lands exactly where this kind of playful rhyme needs to land, light, cheeky, and completely unapologetic.

That was the Aim. Thank you for Reading this.

                    Hello, Kevin,

The departure gates are closed and there's you left all alone in the humour of loss. Another classic from your good self.

                    All the best,

                    Tony.

Rather the Human of loss than The loss of Humour.
