Why You Hit Me With A Lie

Anthony Hanible

Why you hit me

With a lie

Watched my faith

Slowly die

Soft your touch

Cold your eyes

Built me up

Then watched decline

I gave truth

You gave disguise

I gave roots

You gave goodbyes

Love can hurt

I understand

Hearts can break

Slip through hands

But if your soul

Changed its side

Don't hit me

With a lie

Just hit me

With goodbye

A poetic plea for honesty. Sadness in cuts that hurt but one needs to know the reason for such injury to prevent future harm and be able to clean the wound so it can heal. Very nicely written
