Aziza S

Does grief speak to you,

Callously or compassionately?

It depends on how you answer

When it calls

If I don't answer, it'll knock

On my front door

It'll read "no one is home" and

Come to my bedroom window

It'll peer in and gasp when it sees me

Wrapped in synthetic silk and

It'll wonder why I lied

It'll shimmer between the slits in my night shades,

Gently imposing its reminder of what once was

It'll hold me softer than the satin I lay on

It'll remind me of my love---

Our love, and that

Grief is the secret to it all.

The personification of grief in this poem makes it so human with a feeling of compassion. Nicely done
