I Chicken Out

Anthony Hanible

I mapped it out

Without a doubt

Then shadows sprout

I chicken out

I had the line

The perfect sign

The stars align

The chance was mine

My pulse would race

My thoughts misplace

Fear took its place

And dimmed my face

I stalled

I hid

Undid what I did

Kept on the lid

On dreams forbidden

The road bent south

Dried up my mouth

Hope headed out

I chicken out

Yet somewhere deep

Beneath the heap

Of fears I keep

Small fires leap

One day I'll shout

Not twist about

Not reroute

No chicken out

I liked this one Anthony it put out there the feeling that many of us have about this world and its challenges where we chicken out sometimes at the last minute. Nicely written
