Don't Be Surprised

Anthony Hanible

Don't Be Surprised

When the sun retreats

When laughter fades

From crowded streets

Don't Be Surprised

When hearts grow cold

When hands let go

Of dreams they hold

Don't Be Surprised

When shadows creep

Through promises

You meant to keep

Don't Be Surprised

When storms arrive

Testing every reason

You survive

Don't Be Surprised

When doors will close

Or pain becomes

The friend you know

Instead

Be Surprised

When hope remains

After all the loss

After all the pain

Be Surprised

When broken things

Still find a way

To grow their wings

Be Surprised

When strength appears

From all the places

Built by tears

For life was never

Meant to stay

A smooth and easy

Perfect way

So when the world

Looks unrecognized

Stand tall

Keep faith

And

Don't Be Surprised
