Two Islands
The view from
the edge
of the back of
beyond
was really quite
literally
something else
entirely ..
and looked out
directly
over the ocean ..
On a good
clear day it might
take in
an assortment
of seabirds,
several dolphins
and both
Steep Holm
and it’s smaller
counterpart,
Flat holm, our
own two little islands ..
Both Steep Holm & Flat Holm are steeped in history and well worth a Google

Good write N.
Erm, why was I nuttier than a Bavarian cuckoo clock, as you commented some time ago? Why Bavarian? Are they the only ones who make them? lol.
Just because & that don't mean we are in any way related .. N
The opening of this poem is magnificent Neville
"The view from
the edge

words and ideas echoing off walls of space. Brilliant! Its vagueness is soft as cotton and undefined edges lead the mind to search further.
"was really quite
literally
something else
entirely .."
The same technique repeated another wave or echo reinforcing the first and augmenting the amplitude. If the poem had stopped here it was enough for a fave. Its following lines of images induce the reader to explore further this place. Bravo my friend I loved it.
I am absolutely more than honoured my friend .. I am, as we say around here gobsmacked & truly .. Neville
A great pleasure my friend
Hey Neville, for the shortest time I imagined you a resident set up in one of the now vacant gun emplacements. You managed to disabuse me of that after a full read of your google direction. I now see those islands as a much valued backdrop to the cherished locale where you feel you belong.
I hope the hound is also appreciativeβ¦
You got me Dave & I am delighted .. Brulee is also pretty pleased she got a nod from you too .. Neville
Neville, you've sent me down a geographical rabbit hole! LOL! I wasn't familiar with either island, but now I'm curious about their histories. I love discovering these little corners of the world through other people's experiences. Thanks, my friend! πΉπ€π
Many thanks Tristan .. I am glad you caught a glimpse of my two little islands .. The Vikings used to overwinter there to rest up before invading my little seaside harbour where I now live .. πββ¬π΄π¦ββ¬π€β«ππ
