The City uncaged
once the innocent
are asleep
Where neon lamps
of judgment
line the alleys with pain
Shadows of regret
dance to the sorrow
of memory
Those not
in their beds
— becoming victims of the night
(Dreamsleep: October, 2026)
Dog Soldiers
Riding
before they walked
War chants
the death of talk
Fury
for those who sought
Staked
— to the ground they fought
(Lame Deer Montana: October, 2026)

Victims in many ways my imaginations says, to crime, to lust, perpetrators and victims themselves both victims in different ways. Nicely done Kurt
Thanks Soren. Those invisible lines ...
You are very welcome Kurt
Very moving poem, Kurt👍🏻🕊️
So very glad, thanks.
Most welcome, my friend 👍🏻🕊️
You know, Kurt, I've walked through a few cities late at night, and there's a peculiar combination of fascination and uneasiness that comes with it. Even familiar surroundings can seem foreign. Your writing certainly brought that feeling back! 🌹🖤🙏
Wrote it listening to Henley & Frey sing 'You Belong To The City.'
