What could it be?
Could it be the soft pleasure that rises
when my love gently exhales?
Plaisir d'amour
might be the way our hands meet
when we walk together.
Plaisir d'amour
sounds like the sea waves
when we sit on the sand, remove our shoes,
and let the water caress our feet.
Plaisir d'amour
could be that moment just after we say goodbye,
when our hearts dim enough to be sad.
Plaisir d'amour
feels like a slow turn of the head
toward you, to kiss you on your quiet lips.
Plaisir d'amour
could be the peace that arrives
when I'm with you.
Or is it what I hear from you when I say,
"I love you,"
and your response feels like
a tingling warmth running through my skin.

- Comment from author about the poem: Plaisir d'amour is not simply the pleasure of romance. It is the quiet pleasure of a love that has remained alive for so many years. Perhaps the most beautiful declaration in a long marriage is not I have loved you for all these years, but rather, after all these years, I still feel that warmth when you answer my "I love you."

A lovely write that is understood differently at different ages from youth's nonsexual dependence and feeling of safety through adolescent hormone rush and sexual desire, to mature understanding and companionship and old ages comfort of something familiar. In all cases there is a bond that is missed when not present. Nicely done Rodriguez
