Always wanted to be a little taller,
able to reach the secrets on the top shelf,
see over the top of obstacles occasionally;
realized before long was just kidding myself.
Dreamed of making music to stun and amaze,
writing and singing and composing and such,
play electric guitar just like Jimmy Page;
settled for rhythm acoustic and a softer touch.
Thought being a baseball player could satisfy me,
great catches and double plays every game,
but home runs were infrequent, stolen bases beyond me,
no real chance of fans even remembering my name.
Without these skills might as well be a woman
with chemical breasts and penis surgically removed,
but without vulva and uterus and ovaries
this would be unnatural and easily disproved.
None of the whining and complaining helped me
mitigate the disappointment I felt;
instead it was reality that eventually convinced me
to play with the cards I was dealt.
