Tomorrow has slipped away
from your eyes.
I can see it
in the distant stare,
the apathetic blankness,
the way you sit beside me
and somehow
aren't there.
Your love is as dead
as the orchids
in the trash.
I keep looking
for something
behind your eyes,
some little spark
that says
I'm still here.
But your heart
has become an abyss
and I've spent too many years
standing at the edge
calling your name.
Belladonna drew me in.
Beautiful flower.
Deadly poison.
I was intoxicated,
drunk on your beauty.
I lapsed into the delusion,
and the poison did the rest.
And I stayed.
God knows
I stayed.
Maybe I thought
love could cure it.
Maybe I was already
too far gone
to know the difference.

Well written
Thanks
What hit me the hardest in this poem was the admission of a love that has faded and gone and then the comparison with belladonna (well could be a woman's name) but an addiction, intoxicating but poisonous. A lovely write Thomas
Thank you, my friend.
You are most welcome
I think we have all been there my friend
Thanks
most welcome
Love, should come with a health warning.
The signs are always there, but we ignore them.
Someone has to make the move though, and the loser is always the one who didn't.
So true. Thanks, Paul.
Fabulous dear Thomas, you know if she was a "Bella Donna" you may have had a chance... 🤣 🌹💐
Thank you, sweet Teddy.
Hello, Thomas,
It's a form of masochism in a way without the joy, clinging on to the impossible knowing full well the bloom though enticing is not alone poisonous but forbidden and yet the fool takes a bite. You have a very fine way with words - a keen observer and a poet to the core. Excellent.
Fond regards,
Tony.
Thank you, my friend.
Thomas, belladonna is such a fascinating and dangerous plant. I've always found it interesting how nature can make something so attractive and yet so deadly. Quite the choice for this one, my friend! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thank you, my friend.
