I dwell in a paradise far from the crowds
On a green hill set in misty clouds
Surrounded by forest with clear mountain streams
In a hollow where I planted my dreams
Papaya, bananas, grapes
Purple red and white hang as arbor drapes
Siriguela, oranges and tangerines
Yellow lemons and juicy nectarines
Guava, persimmons, inga, plums and lime
Starfruit, jabuticaba, avocado tastes sublime
Outback a garden of lettuce, cabbage, celery and potatoes
Bell peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes
My only visitors are the birds
Awakened each morning to their singing and spoken words
Toucans, humming birds, painted buntings and dove
Blue and green finches, birds of love
Night time serenade of cicadas, crickets and frogs in the creeks
As dusk falls and the night speaks

Sounds idyllic my friend
Thanks so much Norman for your read and kind words they are as always most appreciated. I like it here, it is very peaceful.
Just the place to write, always welcome
How some folks are forced to suffer in this world, Soren; I'm so sorry. I'm sure that if you approached the right authority, they would find you a cozy little flat halfway up a tower block which would give you access to all the city's wonderful attractions below.
That is what I love about ya Dave always lookin out for me. Have to say I never was a city guy crowds drive me nuttier than I already am. If ya think I\'m BSing about this place it is all true although if you were here you would tell me from your point of view it was idealized. When I first came to the site you asked me to put in some poems that told about life experiences and who I was. Yesterday a bit about me, today where I live, tomorrow another past experience. Thanks so much for the read my old friend so good to have ya stop by.
Took you time to get round to it.😊
Your poem on this topic was obviously constructed with care and reverence in full acnowledgement of how lucky you are. Great.
Precisely my feeling re crowds, BTW. I largely manage to avoid, but sometimes it takes planning...
Sounds like an orchestra fit for a king. Such magnificent imagery I felt I was with you. 🌹
Thanks so much my friend I appreciate your read and comment it means a great deal.
All the surburbinites are googling where this place is, and packing their bags as we speak.
Mind you, the ferals would soon turn it into the dump they just left.
I would keep this place to yourself.
Thanks Paul for the read and advice. I had thought about that and after many years of study and work have found a place that goes against what all governments wish to destroy, a place off the grid. People can not find me for I have no address (literally there is none). My name not associated with any utilities and no close neighbors but the animals ( and they tell no tales )
You are living the dream.
So true but all dreams have an end
A true paradise 🙏🏻🕊️
Thanks so much Cryptic I always appreciate your reads and comments my friend. It took me a life time of wandering to find it.
All worth it my friend 🙏🏻🕊️
Good write SB. And now my poem (I think it's the correct title): 'Oh to be in England, now that April's there!' lol.
My father has been there during the war and my brother has been there but not I my friend, I have stayed on this side of the pond but consider you guys as brothers indeed. Thanks for the read my friend.
You don't wanna come here - you might meet KP - in an aquarium. She's an old trout! lol.
Would love to go to England but the walk is too far for an old man.
I have a little garden visited by magpies and finches and squirrels and foxes. That's as exotic as it gets on the outskirts of Glasgow. I have a porch with a platform outside where I have my coffee and cigarette in the morning and an uninterrupted view of the woods to the north and the "sleeping giant" (that's a formation of hills in the Campsite Fells that ..looks like a sleeping giant!, you can Google it) I say good morning to him but he's lost in his own thoughts.
I liked your poem. Not had time to write much recently. I read your bio and it inspires me to write a similar one, but not got round to that yet. Not so exciting but similar in many ways. And I though I'd had a rich life! Anyway. Take care.
Thank you my friend for the read and comment. Your place sounds enchanting as well and I'll look up the sleeping giant. My wife and I have around 325 acres or 132 hectors of mountainous rainforest here that we intend to preserve. Live in a cabin about twenty miles from the closest town with woods all around enjoying the sleepy life of nature. Have another house in Florida if I want more company. I miss your writes and hope you write some more soon. Have a wonderful day.
I sent you a private message. Bedtime here in Scotland...past bedtime. Goodnight
Sounds Idyllic. Living in a Town, sometimes at Night I can hear an Owl. Which I like , but nothing compared to your Situation.
A good Write to make me Green with envy.
Thanks so much for the read and comment Kevin. Every place has its advantages. Have a place in Florida that's much closer to the store and beach but also neighbors.
Ah, Soren, I've always enjoyed being somewhere I can hear nature without the constant intrusion of human activity. Give me a quiet morning outdoors and a good cup of home brewed cold brew, and I'm perfectly content. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thanks Tristan for the read and comment it is what I consider a privilege now days where all places seem over run.
Well! Soren,
Man in the wilderness and what a beautiful wilderness it is.I would give my left testicle to live there. Lol! Very interested in the bird life, a student of ornithology all my life. I must admit, Im envious, that said, beautiful descriptions expressed with your usual flair, my friend.
All the best,
Tony.
Thank you my friend for your visit. I appreciate your kind words and have waited over fifty years to be here full time. The birds are amazing with all their colors and calls. Some fly through my kitchen and living area and even over my bed from time to time. Dozens of species from the water of my pond to the forest canopy. I have a house in Florida a block from the beach and their are many birds their as well but here is more peaceful.
Paradise by any other name. I was envious, now I'm jealous. Lol!
