a warm autumn day.
a calm stillness fills the air;
rapid gunfire pops.

the calm disturbed by madness
Norman, sorry for leaving you waiting...Iβm being pulled in four directions at work. Unfortunately, I didnβt have to invent this one...just sat on my porch. Iβm tired of having reason to write it. Thanks for being here. ππ€π«π
a fine piece my friend, much enjoyed
Even the calm and beautiful is punctuated with the terrible and ugly. Nice contrast my friend. The pairing of the two makes this a powerful piece.
Sorry Iβm only getting back to you now, Soren...work has been relentless. I was sitting on my front porch when the gunfire went off and I wrote this. Some days Iβd rather have nothing to write about! Thank you. ππ€π«π
You are very welcome Tristan. No problem I understand the demands of life.
That'll be Popeye's pop gun! heehee.
Orchi, Popeyeβs claiming he was opening spinach tins...WCAT has swallowed the evidence! LOL! But yes, I was sitting on my porch enjoying the weather when I heard actual gunfire. Apologies for keeping you waiting...Iβve been swamped at work. ππ€π«π
lol an ironic haiku so very you. π€£ Tristan you are a hoot! Halloween is coming and I usually dress up like a chair so I don't have to answer the door lol π€£
Teddy, Iβll come as a footstool...we can ignore the door together! LOL! This one was written on my front porch, ironically. I was enjoying the great weather when gunfire rang out from down the street. Followed by police zipping by. π¬ Sorry Iβve kept you waiting...Iβm being pulled in four directions at work. ππ€π«π
The calm before the storm.
A nice day for walking, can also be a nice day for getting shot.
Too bloody true, Paul. I actually heard gunfire while sitting on my front porch...didnβt even need to go for a walk! Sorry for the late reply...work has me stretched in four directions. ππ€π«π
Hello, Tristan,
To wander casually into mayhem. This haiku has a real eastern flavour to it, not many western poets achieve that, so, very well done, my friend.
All the best,
Tony.
Tony, Iβm grateful for that encouragement. Unfortunately, I didnβt have to imagine the situation...I heard gunfire from my front porch that day. Forgive the slow reply...workβs been pulling me in four directions. Good to hear from you. ππ€π«π
Wow. I got a contrast and double entendre from that stillness! ππ»ποΈ
Yes, Rik...you caught it! Unfortunately, I actually heard gunfire while sitting on my front porch. Followed by a slew of police cars. π π¬ Sorry for the slow reply...work has me stretched in four directions. ππ€π«π
That's cool, man. When that happens it's like either of two things: the circus came to town or it could really be dangerous right then.
