Me, Surrender?

Michael A. McGuire

I don't have the strength to
fight anymore.

The blows keep coming without
rest and I can no longer keep
my hands up to block them.

Does it ever end?  Why can't
I catch a break?  Only glimpses
of good, but mostly bad.  Happiness
is fleeting, disintegrating into
sad.

We all want to be happy but
doesn't seem to be in the cards.
Thanks for the misery but I've
had enough inspiration for
thousands of bards.

Should I thrown in the towel?
Wave the white flag?

Nah...let's see what else happens!

A poem where pain drives inspiration and now too tired to continue one trudges on regardless. Well written

Wow, Michael! This hit close to home, especially after the morning I've had! LOL! I love that you've still got some fight left in you, even when life is being a royal pain in the ass. Here's hoping the universe gives you a well-deserved break, my friend! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Brings to mind "The Shawshank Redemption" movie. After all Andy went through, he still had hope and finally found his freedom when
no one, including himself at times, thought it would ever happen. Thank you both so much! We have to hang in there and not end up like
Brooks after going through so much; otherwise it will all be for nothing!
