Somewhere Between Today and Tomorrow

Dev Parth

Today, I don't want to be extraordinary.
I don't want to conquer the world
or prove that I deserve my place in it.
I just want to live a little gently,
without fighting every thought inside me.

I have spent enough days
trying to become someone
I could finally be proud of.
Perhaps today, I'll simply be someone
who doesn't give up on himself
for not having everything figured out.

The sun never apologizes
for setting before the world is ready.
The flowers never rush their blooming.
And maybe I, too,
am allowed to take my time.

So if today feels ordinary,
let it be ordinary.
If my heart feels heavy,
I'll give it room to breathe.

Not every day needs a victory.
Not every wound needs a lesson.
Sometimes, making it through the day
with a little kindness still inside you
is an achievement of its own.

And tomorrow,
when the light finds my window again,
I will rise not because
I have finally become enough,

but because I am learning
that I always was.

A great message for a society that must have action in the first minute of a film or page of a novel or they loose interest. Patience is a virtue and there is nothing wrong with a day that is not filled with excitement. Nicely written

Thank you! I feel the same way. We’re so used to expecting something exciting from every day that we sometimes forget there’s beauty in simply living, too.

You are very welcome Dev. Have a nice day

Yes, sometimes the penny drops before you've realised it.
        I always say.
If you wake up tomorrow, it's a great day,
If you don't. it's somebody elses problem.

Not every day needs to be extraordinary; sometimes, simply waking up, being here, and getting another chance at life is enough. And that last line made me smile. Maybe some things really are a problem for tomorrow!
